For the boys we have:

TERM 1: cricket, swimming
TERM 2: rugby, cross-country, soccer
TERM 3: hockey, athletics
TERM 4: cricket, swimming
Chess and tennis can be played all year around.

For the girls we have:

TERM 1: swimming, cricket
TERM 2: netball, cross-country, soccer
TERM 3: hockey, athletics
TERM 4: swimming, cricket

As hockey is our biggest sport in terms of participation (± 300 boys and girls play!) we have decided to become a partner in the Northwood Boys Astroturf. This means that we now play our hockey on the artificial surface. We will have a Wednesday for boys and a Thursday for girls and a Saturday morning for matches.

We also proudly host an annual 6-a-side cricket tournament at which 16 schools compete, and an annual chess tournament, which sees around 200 children taking part. The emphasis at Virginia is on participation which sees each age group fielding at least a "C" team in cricket and rugby and at least a "D" team in hockey and netball. We are, however, competitive enough to hold our own against all our opposition, which includes some of the biggest primary schools in Durban.
